Eagle Mountain Internet Options

Where is all the Eagle Mountain Internet competition?

A lot of Eagle Mountain citizens have no clue that there are more than two internet companies here. As far as Eagle Mountain Internet goes, we don’t have a lot to choose from.

While our options are limited, the competition is STRONG!

To clear up things right off the bat. Comcast (Xfinity) and Century Link will (most likely) never provide Eagle Mountain Internet. At this point it would cost too much money to dig up the entire city to lay a network down. We will save this story for another day.

Besides Direct Communications and Digis, your other options for Internet out here are as follows:

Innovative Air

Once Rapidwave, Innovative Air has proven again that is can be one of the best companies to provide Eagle Mountain internet. Their latency is right on par with fiber as it uses microwave (speed of light, people) to transmit the data to your house. They will place a small antenna on your roof and point it to one of their towers. Speeds can range from 10 mbps all the way up to 100 mbps. (That’s right) Their customer service is fantastic, usually resolving problems within HOURS rather than days. Even on the weekends.

Service is spotty, and some may not be in range of a tower, but it’s most definitely worth a shot to see if they are in your service area. If they are, you are one lucky duck and it would be a GREAT Eagle Mountain internet option!

Innovative Air Speed Test

Signal West

We’ve heard a lot of fantastic things about Signal West.  They have reliable speeds up to 30 mbps, they have no long term contracts or gimmicks, and most importantly, they have a lot of happy customers. Like Innovative Air the price you pay is the price you pay. There are no additional fees or taxes tacked on at the end of your billing cycle. It’s a flat costs meaning your bill will never change.

Their technology is the same as our previous review. They use wireless microwave technology and stands to be reliable in all conditions. It is contingent that you have a good view of which ever tower you’re pointing to. So keep that in mind as well. Take a look at their Ranches Service Map: (Click to Enlarge)

Utah Broadband

You know those clever billboards you see going down I-15 in Draper advertising these guys? They are a great company to deal with. They are very friendly and courteous to their customers and believe in high standards. They don’t raise their rates, apply additional taxes or fees, or force you to bundle your TV and phone to get a good price. Switching to their service is painless and easy.

Because UBB owns their entire network, they have distinct advantages over their competitors.  Some of these advantages include:

  • Fast installation
  • Outstanding reliability
  • Superior local customer service

All in all, you can’t go wrong with these guys. The only downside reported is that the latency isn’t as good as Innovative Air, and the prices are a little bit more expensive for the same packages. They would be a great service provider if you didn’t qualify for Innovative Air.

Verizon Home Fusion Broadband

This is different from your 4G Hotspot. This is a full out home broadband service. Speeds are reported to be in the 12 to 20 mbps down, and 4 – 8 mbps up. Although we have not tested it in Eagle Mountain, they claim that the speeds are reasonable out here. (Per their store salesmen in the Walmart Parking lot) They are a very large company, which has it’s advantages and disadvantages of course. We have also noticed that  a lot of Eagle Mountain citizens can qualify for this service, and the benefits are greater if you’re a current Verizon wireless subscriber.

Now for the bad news. Data caps are enforced and range depending on your package. If you have a lot of internet users under your roof, this might not be the best solution for you. This service is also quite expensive. So beware of that.

Overall, this is a great solution to someone with no options. Those living in the Ranches are probably more suited for service than those in City Center.
